It seems Lee Youngji has taken the position of IU as the 'go-to' person in KPop

    Until 2023, IU was kind of the go-to person when everything else failed.


    Not being part of a huge company she was not part of a faction so she was kind of a Switzerland to idols of all companies, plus her status as a Senior Singer meant she was quite immune from any intrusion.


    However, it seems 2024 is the year of horror for Lee Jieun.


    It seems Lee Youngji, who denied aespa its 100th day on #1 at Melon along with other things, has become the go-to person for the newer generation of idols.


    Lee Youngji does not require idols to sing her songs, unlike IU whose songs are easy to botch, making idols an embarrassment of themselves.


    Plus Lee Youngji is younger, so easier to approach by idols in 4th and 4.5th generation, who only saw IU on youtube.


    As IU's influence over the 4th and 4.5th generation decline every day, Lee Youngji's reputation is rising every day.

    Indeed, she has been everywhere this year.


    But she will not replace IU, by the simple fact that she is a "rapper", as SMTM showed, rap can have viral spikes, but not long term reach across demographics.


    And IU has been over the years, reducing her presence.

    2009-2014 you couldn't escape her on Korean TV, drama,ads and of course music.


    The 2017 - now, is already low on music shows (Thanks to Laboum, you would say) , variety and for all the hype, HDL was 6 years ago.


    Palette, is the new addition and what you call the challenge, that idols have to sing IU's songs (& she theirs), is what makes it unique and gives the stamp of the premier show.


    Once an idol goes on Palette, it will be ludicrous to shade their vocals or their stature in the industry


    That Lee Youngji can't give. But as a young popular rapper, she is more useful for collabs or to substitute for unavailable/foreign features

    I think that gave a lot of relevancy over LYJ - it was now 'hip' to show up in LYJ's show, while IU's show only showed oldsters like Jo Jungsuk, Hyukoh and Day6.


    LYJ is not their direct competition so it seems to make the idols, who had to fight with IU for a long time, a lot more comfortable.

    Hip has its place and esteem its.


    Palette has had Jeanz and Ive now, they are very repressentative of the "young & popular".

    Effectively, it will be the non-Kpoppers BIBI and Lee Youngji, who are your next champions against the Senior Singer.


    Ok we will see how they fare.


    BiBi's releases after "Bam yang gang" failed even to chart on Circle. So that's no go.


    Lee Youngji against Palette, is at best a side show, since Palette is a side show to the Senior Singer and neither is she a challenge on the music side, Small Girl.

    LYJ will continue to steal younger generation acts from IU's turf.

    Lee Soonshin was ultimately defeated and killed against Shimazu Yoshihiro (technically a tactical victory but since Shimaze made it back to Japan, and whose descendants would instigate the Meiji Restoration which led Japan to annex Korea later, it was a defeat)


    So if LYJ-KHS, who already convened
