    I mean NewJeans winning 2023 was an abnormality. Since 2006 when the award was started, only 3 female artists have won and only 15 nominees out of the last 17 years were female artists. They nominate 5 artists per year so that is not even a 3rd of the artists nominated, being female in total, since the award started being given at MAMA.

    That's why I already didn't really give shit about this year


    Day6 didn't win Best band and I'm actually really OK with that because QWER won and I'm sure this award would mean SO MUCH MORE to the girls. Because Day6 has reached a level where these attendance awards mean nothing when you already have a chokehold on the world.


    And also, while MAMA was happening I was watching them live at their concerts they need not attend that attendance award.


    Imagine being one of the bigger award shows in SK but you don't even have the decency to provide proper set up and equipment for bands and you have had YEARS to do it. Kinda embarassing actually

    They always try to please HYBE while having sour relationship with YG and SM.


    YG and SM artists have been snubbed so many times that even BB had to call them out during performance. Same goes to smaller companies.

    Honestly speaking, newjeans did ruled that year. But historically, Mnet can still give it to boy group just to please their fans


    I think the only reason Mnet decided to let Newjeans won (as they deserved) is because they are from HYBE and that the top running BG fans from the same compang will have lesser hate (at that time).
