If Yang Hyun-Suk hasnt shown his face so much in Babymonster content...

  • Would Babymonster have been more successful than they are now?

He was basically putting himself out there as the main producer/director for the last evaluation and now even after debut in behind the scenes he is everywhere.

Babymonster is kind of associated with Yang Hyun Suk himself now... is that even a good thing with how tarnished his image is in Korea :?:

Changed the title of the thread from “If YG hasnt shown his face so much in Babymonster content...” to “If Yang Hyun-Suk hasnt shown his face so much in Babymonster content...”.
  • Good question, but the answer is: we'll never know. I do think the quality in their songs was one of the reasons. I'm not saying Batter Up and Sheesh are bad, but it's nowhere a super great debut choice. Forever and Drip are way superior, but kpop is fast and if you don't really get attention in your first cb, it'll be difficult to become bigger in the next ones.

Do they have time to get bigger? Obviously, but if they do I think it'll be slowly.

  • Most people don't care. If anything, having his face in the content makes it a good way for people to blame him when things go wrong instead of directing that energy towards the members or anyone else.

At this point, it's a running trend among fans to blame him and Teddy (when Teddy was involved with YGE production) for everything, and I feel like that's a good way to redirect hate away from the groups. But when the groups release music, the fans will still eat it up while blaming him and Teddy for things they nitpick on.

  • As someone who's been a fan of YGE groups for over a decade, here's what I think.

Without him in the content, the people will just say:

"Yeah, this group is not worth my time."

    With him in the content:

"This group has so much potential. F YG for messing this up. I'll still give the group a chance, though."

He's a scapegoat for things people dislike, but it works in everyone's favor in the end. People love to blame someone, anyone, so it's good for every company to have that person the fans can blame.

Unless they're straight-up antis, fans tend to be nicer to YGE groups because they always believe Yang Hyun-Suk or YGE is holding back these groups' true potential somehow.

In the end, I don't think he even cares about being blamed because the fans will still love the idols and consume whatever's being put out.
