PS5 sucks. Hardly any exclusives for it. I've mostly played my old PS4 library or cross gen games on it. PS5 pro is even dumber because there's hardly any games that push the standard console as is so it's more money for what? 8k?

There's no point in getting a more powerful version of a system that has a dire lack of exclusive games. Frankly it's insulting that they're even considering it. Work on your software before you even start to worry about your hardware.
US doesn't have it that bad honestly
Americans make more money than a lot of people in other countries, but the cost of living can also be significantly higher. In many cases it balances out in favor of foreigners.
The price is officially $700!! 
It does not come with a disc drive, so it will be a digital version.
But, if you do want the drive, you must shell out another $100 and it can be attached to the system.

I don't know if you were around during the PS3 era when the original fat console was $600 and a lot of people were not happy about that.
It was that price because Sony decided to use the newly developed Cell CPU instead of the typical X486 CPU, which made it somewhat difficult for developers to create games on during the beginning of its life cycle.
But, now add $200 more for gamers who want the disc version of the PS5 Pro -- $100 more for the PS5 Pro than the original PS3 and $100 more for the attachable disc drive -- totaling $800!!
