A "containment thread" is a thread that contains and holds particular users/topics to stop it spilling out everywhere and over running a forum. Mega threads are in essence containment threads.
Without one, I can forsee, even at a quiet point in the saga, multiple threads on page 1 about various minutae of the topic. Or individual members making threads to give their opinion on something about it. Imo it's better just to put it all in one thread where those who are interested can play, while those that are less so can ignore it without having to wade through 7-8 different threads bumping down other topics.
(I kind of like the idea of mega threads for any big, divisive topic and scandal though)

Like you can add topic tags to threads, I wonder if it could be done that you can then also block certain topics. Then, if the thread has that topic tags... Blocked
