Did anyone of you ever watch the movie "Christiane F"?

  • Well... I just came across this video. (This video contains spoilers though, even though it is based on true events.)

I remember that when I was in my early teens, me and my classmates watched that movie in German class.

I don't think I understood the concept of drug abuse until I watched the movie.

And I think that when I watched the movie, I was like "yeah, I would never become a drug addict." (I still haven't done drugs though btw)

David Bowie was in that movie, and I remember back then that I didn't know who Bowie was.

  • I kind of relate to that short. I'm not German but close to it in culture.

Three topics a lot of books I read as a young teen dealt with:

    - drugs (I read the story by Christiane F. but also others)

    - Nazism (The Wave by Todd Strasser, it's also a movie)

    - the aftermath of nuclear accidents (The Cloud by Gudrun Pausewang)

All of them impacted me deeply (and are probably part of the reason I have anxiety now). I watched the movie about Christiane F. way later though. I also didn't know Bowie well but I thought that particular scene was beautiful.
