I think the reason why some people don't like kdrama is because of them being predictable

  • But I like some kdramas despite them being predictable.

And cliché with the love triangles and stuff.

Most kdramas that I watch are romance, and one thing that I have heard about the romance genre is that for it to be a romance, it has to have a happy ending. (the ones with tragic endings are considered "romantic tragedies")

And I think that all the kdramas that I have watched have happy endings. (like I haven't watched any kdramas that are like "girl gets cancer and dies", like I have heard that some older kdramas are like.)

Okay, there is this one short kdrama that came out few years ago (which I haven't watched), where you kinda know that this kdrama has a tragic ending, but people still watch it and are not being like "I know this has a tragic ending, so I don't have to watch."

Of course, for some media, where you expect a happy ending, like a romance or an animated children's movie, people are often curious about how the main character (or main characters) get their happy ending.

Despite themm being predictable, there are also times where something happens in a kdrama and I'm thinking "I didn't see that coming".

Well... I know that there are other reasons why some people don't like kdramas.

Like them being cheesy and stuff.

But well... people watch kdramas for entertainment.

Okay, this thread was pretty much just a midnight thought....

  • i mean that's true, almost most of hte K-dramas I watch end up being predictable or similar. I get a different vibe watching content from china, hong kong, thailand or even japan. But it seems like Korea doesn't different that much in some of their dramas, which is unfortunate. I still watch for the actors/story etc, but often times it gets boring seeing the same kind of plot/storyline over and over

  • I like predictable sometimes @@@a8782725-ff5e-494b-b1a4-816957c56b90@@@ it is tooo predictable. I liked Marry My Husband a lot more than usual K Dramas because it was all over the place and constantly had new chaotic story lines. It is also why I think Penthouse caught on so much

  • That Lovely runner was like that for me somehow in the middle of the show I've lost interest

overall if drama has 12 episodes I beg them to not reveal 'killer' or 'ending path' earlier than in ep 10

and if drama has 16 episodes I wish it will be even longer, like ep 13/14

But overall it's all about plot, script, and acting level. I'm now watching Connection and altough there were hints here and there still it's a great drama, and you can see it with ratings. First episode had 5.7% rating, and then it has grown to the point that 14th episode had 14.2% rating.
