Just for fun, recommend me some books

  • I don't normally ask Allkpop users for book recommendations.

And this thread is kinda just for fun.

Well... these are some books that I like. (So that you can maybe recommend me similar books)

    • the Moomin books by Tove Jansson (I pretty much like a lot of Nordic children's books)
    • Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
    • Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata
    • Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Namjoo
    • The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
    • Babette's Feast by Karen Blixen
    • The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa
    • You, Me and Our Heartstrings by Melissa See

You can also recommend me books based on what you think I might like. (e.g. boats, geese, pirates...)

The thing about me though is that I prefer books that have no smut in it, because reading that kind of stuff makes me actually uncomfortable.

But well... recommend me some books that you think I would enjoy reading.

  • Yes of course, I read some of the books you mentioned above so here are just soem of my recommendations!

(These do not contain smut; it makes me uncomfy too)

    Here are my two books!

    1) Too Kill a Mocking Bird (I liked this bird after reading the Outsiders, it has a similar vibe and time in the 1960s where both books take place)

    2) When Marnie Was There (The Novel; not the movie) ~ So i found that these two books along with the Convenience Store Woman really do express the trouble of fitting in, and being in the right state of mind.

    Happy Reading ^^

  • I only like the

    House of Night Series

House of Night Series by P.C. Cast

    The Black Stallion Series

Though I love the lord of the rings and harry potter movies i've never read the book

  • Well... I haven't watched the movie adaption of The Outsiders and I have sometimes thought about maybe watching it someday.

I have read all the LotR books, but I feel like I kinda prefer the movies. (Despite the fact that I found it kinda fun to read the trilogy in my native language.)

I think the movie was good, it had an awesome cast line up, and i felt it was pretty close to the book.

I haven't had any desire to read the LotR books but maybe one day just for fun lol

Before I read the LotR books, I read The Hobbit.

I think that when I decided to read it, I wasn't that much into LotR and I also kinda did it because it is a short book.

Well... and I have actually felt like re-reading The Hobbit this year.

I read it before I watched the Hobbit movie trilogy, and I feel that reading it after having seen the movies would feel different.

i haven't read those books either!

  • Havn't read anything you listed so IDK what to even suggest based on this

EDIT: I read a row of Haruki Murakami's books and they are all very good, you just should avoid the big fat ass novels he wrote that cost a ton more than the regular books he did, cause they are hared to get to like and many people said the style of those was also so different, that its not for everyone while his regular works are easier and I can confirm, cause I tried to read a 3 part one that came in a actualy very gorgeous book since it had black outlined pages and a rainbow colored cover hidden behind a slightly transparent black plastic sleeve, with a attached gold band as bookmark, but the first chapter was so tiring, that I gave the book to a relative who reads anything and she liked it more than I did.
