Do you think TWS will bag every ROTY this year?
We have seen bg decline in SK during 4th gen, so I think Pledis made a great move by focusing on the Korean market for TWS debut (just like Seventeen with Adore U and Mansae)
Charting on kchart is very important since year-end award shows mainly use their data for calculation. And with a great surprise, TWS is performing really well thanks to their refreshing songs and godly visuals. So Pledis' 9 years of waiting the perfect lineup is worthwhile. In addition, this is only February so TWS surely has the advantage of tracking. Though int fans still consider them as "nugu" their popularity in Korea continues to increase everyday. Their songs are played by gp and some artists in the background either on youtube vlogs or insta stories.
Their growth is very much like Seventeen's, slowly but surely. Here are some key interesting points of TWS so far:
1. Debut with Strong Digital
TWS debuted with low rank but after their promotion, it's slowly but surely climbed the chart and became one of the highest debut after Wanna One Energetic on Melon
2. Good Physical Debut Album Sales
As a bg, esp Pledis' bg and Seventeen's junior, ofc they at least already secured some physical album sales. Seems like the number will only grow cuz some ppl said the design is so cute and planning to buy it. Also, they seem to put some stocks in convenience stores
3. Refreshing Songs
Pledis did a good job at choosing the song, concept and timing. They release Plot Twist around the new school term period and with youthful and schoolboy vibes. Plus, they use Korean title which translates as "The First Meeting Didn't Go as Planned" (English: Plot Twist)
4. Korean Fans > International Fans
Seems like TWS caught the attention of Koreans (and some JP + CN + Indonesian fans). That's why some ppl questioning their digital chart because "I've never heard about them before". Because if you look at their videos, 90% of the comments will be in Korean, 5% JP + CN + IDN, and then English comments
For example, this video has 2M views but the comments are all in Korean, finding English comments is like playing hide-and-seek
5. Visuals
Korean girlies are crazy over Shinyu and Dohoon atm (Shinyu especially). Some also said they look like AI (esp Hanjin)
For sure we need to see their comeback performance but what do you think?
