And she has proved she has them

She was called the ice princess and it was so obvious why it was her nickname though to me, she gave off more cold chic vibes than rbf vibes. When I found out that she got kicked for fashion business, it made perfect sense because I had fallen in love with her airport fashion lol!
It's funny because I got into Exo when they were losing members as well. It didn't help my disappointment about the Jessica situation.
Exo's discography helped me a lot in healing and later, after accepting Kpop, I went back to the Snsd discography and I started feeling blessed even if they weren't as close and as active as before.
Gosh, it was such a chaotic time, and so bittersweet. I can't believe that that is how I became a Kpop fan and Exol and Sone at the same time
Haha we have pretty much the same story, I kept from gettin into EXO because I felt I didn't have the energy to keep up with a group split in half and then with a group bleeding members. Only when things settled a little I could focus on the group.
Same, EXO gave me a reason to stay in Kpop afte SNSD wasn't as active anymore and Jessica-s departure was still fresh.

My bias was Sunny in the group! Despite this yes, Jessica's voice added something to the group, she wasn't just an "extra". And despite she not being my bias, all of their releases afterwards just felt "meh" in my opinion and I stepped away from kpop - until BTS lured me in again with DNA.
I mean Gee, Genie, Oh!, Run Devil Run, Mr. Mr... all of those were bops. Honestly, besides Lionheart and TaeTiSeo releases, all of them felt... a bit forced to me? Specially You Think, Party, etc.... just... ehhhh. I listened to them once and dropped it right away. Maybe I felt jaded, I don't know.
But Mr. Mr I was obsessed with that release, it hit the sweet spot between badass girls and sexiness. Not too cute, not too sexy. I watched every stage performance as I was looking forward to see their costumes (I like the black dresses from the MV the most).
I remember the frustration when they lost (?) part of the footage of the MV and had to re-film (?) and release it later. Specially because I liked the choreo bits, and apparently that's a big chunk of what they lost.
Sunny had the most developed head voice, it's sad that she chose not to do music. I love her sweet vocals.
Mr. Mr. was the first Snsd MV I watched and I loved everything about it that it got me curious about Snsd and The Boys sealed the deal for me. It was a chaotic time in general, Sicagate, dating scandals...it was too much.

Honestly, I don't think she would have been my ult for long since Yoona got me looking into Snsd and Sooyoung and Hyoyeon have such cool personalities apart from being cool dancers but, the confidence she had to say no and fighting for her dream is what keeps me following her to today.
She's killing it, I bet they regretted sabotaging her after the rest of the girls chose to chase their dreams as well. All the fuss was for nothing.

I'm glad we stayed

Yes, SM or whoever decided she had to go, messed up pretty big.

lol! My first K-pop bias was Sunny too In fact, she was the reason I got into K-pop in the first place. On some other, totally different site someone posted a youtube video with hilarious, funny K-pop clips and practically all of them were about Sunny. I got intrigued, followed the other reference vids at the side and before you know it, I was deep into the Korean variety shows, followed up by K-pop.
Invincible Youth, Girls Go To School, Intimate Note, Hello Baby, We Got Married, Horror Movie Factory, Strong Heart, I think I saw most of the variety shows with Sunny/SNSD in it within the first month (thank you, Soshified! ): first I got into Sunny, then into SNSD, and then into K-pop as a whole and all those groups, and K-pop always stuck with me ever since.
And yes, Mr. Mr. deserved so, so much better. It feels like that was their most cursed comeback, so much stuff went wrong.

Oh no I guess you're me I remember Soshified so well too! I didn't manage to watch all of those shows though.

Honestly, when it comes to people changing and career progression, hers is the one that saddens me the most.
Sometimes I rewatch those early-debut-years variety show clips, and she seemed so energetic, optimistic and hopeful. But it all faded away as the years progressed, and even more so after Jessica's departure.
And she really did have a golden voice esp. in the higher regions: the song she did with BEG's Miryo and her vocal performances of jazz-style Gee and in the Lalala show sounded so good.
And her solo performances like Britney Spears' 'Three' and of 'Bloom' showed how spectacular she could be (and could have been) as a performer, when her potential was fully unlocked and realized.
Alas, it's not to be. A shame.
-
Yeah, it was my first taste of K-pop, through a Sunny/SNSD lens: it turned me into ravenous binge mode, K-pop became my drug and Soshified my overtly generous dealer they really, really had all the stuff, from variety show clips to full seasons, performance clips, even the CF's, radioshows and individual member stuff.

I'll be honest though - although I loved her aegyo, I believe a bit of that "energy" was her "stage persona" given to her by SM. We all know how all idols have that.
-
Yeah, her aegyo was her stage persona, but that energy, that full-of-lifeness she had at the beginning was real. Which was endearing to see and impressive, because at heart she's an introvert. But one that really, truly wanted to be the 'energizer' and emotional/moral support for the group.
Unfortunately, that part of her got eroded or hacked away due to how things (or life) went as the years progressed.

I guess she wanted to rest because all she wanted was to be Snsd and nothing more. It's good to be thankful and contented sometimes, it saves you a lot of unnecessary pain.
So maybe to her, a solo career is not worth it.
