Personally I haven't quite sorted it out yet (so i'm in the same boat) but I feel emotional investment might be a big factor.

If there's no emotional investment (it might sound very bad of me tbh ) but it seems like it's not that much different than using a sex doll. or watching p*rn and masturbating. As long as it's a paid service, like prostitution.

-- if the hypothetical partner hooked up with or without my knowledge, there's definitely some emotional involvement tbh, especially if there was no just compensation exchanged.

I'd still take it as feedback though that I wasn't enough to satisfy them.

if they become emotionally invested, that's cheating.

so it's bad/bad but split along small bad/ big bad.

I'd personally try to keep exclusive to the relationship though. whether it be polygamy or monogamy.
