How much does it bother you when...

  • ... you're watching a kpop artists' livestream and you see English comments saying "speak English"?

Well... I find it kinda annoying.

I find it kind of understanding because some kpop fans don't understand Korean and those live videos don't have subtitles. And they want to know what they are saying.

I still find those comments annoying for some reason.

I can't relate to the thing that someone would ask me to switch language because they don't understand.

Okay, a week ago, I was playing a game together with some people and one of them didn't speak my native language, so we sometimes switched to English. I feel like that is different though.

I'm not fluent in Korean, but I don't mind hearing my faves talking in almost 100% Korean about stuff.

Sometimes I can understand stuff, when they use body language, say a fellow member's name, use words that most non-Koreans understand etc...

I don't mind not understanding everything they say, but I do often lose focus because of it (if I have a short attention span, I don't know. There are times I check other websites while watching the live.)

I am one of them, who comments in English to these live videos, because I don't speak Korean and my computer keyboard doesn't have hangul. (I have a few times commented in Korean though, but mostly if I watched it on my cellphone)

I don't comment "speak English". I mostly write stuff like "You're handsome".

  • people like that should just learn the language. it's easier than people think. you can pretty much understand most kpop related content within two years or so-- even faster if you have some sort of knack for it

Yup, instead of asking kpop artists to speak English, they can just learn the language.

I know some basic words and sentences in Korean, which has helped me understand a bit what they are saying.
