Shape of You is one of the biggest foreign songs in the last decade in Japan so the fact that Dynamite has broken so many of its records for downloads, streaming, and the Billboard Hot 100 is insane! Dynamite currently has ~360K downloads and will probably get the 2x platinum certification in the future (500K) and maybe even the streaming diamond certification (500M streams) since it has 300M streams atm. As of right now, only 6 songs have surpassed 300M streams on Billboard Japan and Dynamite is the fastest, as well as the only foreign song!

I honestly feel like the success of Dynamite in Japan is the most surprising out of all its success worldwide. Especially to the point where its doing these kinds of numbers! Insane!
And to think that they have grown so much in Japan since Dynamite is scary cause they already had pretty big numbers in Japan pre dynamite (mainly in terms of physicals).

I feel like Dynamite's success in Japan really shows how its global slayage is organic.
Its an English song, it wasnt promoted at all until it became a huge hit there, it clearly wasnt meant for the Japanese market.
Yet, its so catchy that it ended up as one of the biggest hits of the year overall and one of the top 2 foreign hits of the decade.
