I always thought the concept of a 'longer run' silly. It is one of the most stupid notions ever introduced.
BTS will never gain its significance. Sure, it might make some money from touring. But the opportunity cost of $10b plus by missing 2022-25will NEVER be recoverable. Never.
BlackPink only released 40 songs in its 7 years. and only had one huge tour. Who knows when will be their next album if they remain under YG and make Mr. Yang richer?
It is not known how much they earn now. Say $20 million. Which means YG makes at least a similar amount.
By becoming global celebs, BlackPink can easily earn $30-50m for the next few years. By the time their peak is over they would have moved on to some other stuff, like launching their own brands or producing shows.
In short the cost benefit analysis says it is better to strike on their own than keep the group.
If the Huang An shit did not hit, Tzuyu would have left the group and become an Asian celeb, but after the Huang An shit Tzuyu didn't do much individually while other members lacked the power to strike on their own which is why the group was extended.
But BP has 3 celebrities who can strike out on their own, and Rose's solo album also did well.

Until 2012 it was not easy to determine how much an artist earned.
In 2012 Psy was the highest earning singer in Korea
In 2013-16 DBSK members, and maybe GDragon, earned the highest
In 2017, probably for the first and last time , IU became the first female singer to earn the most in Korea. Her earning figure is known since she was the only person in her department even back then. She brought in $20 million (USD), her cost was $11 million, and she pocketed $9 million, ahead of everyone else, male and female , in Korea.
It is estimated that BTS members earned the most. (It is hard to determine what members earned how much so I won't get into there.)
Lee Jieun was paid about $7m in 2020,and $14m in 2021 from Edam Entertainment (2022 figure is not available but would be similar to 2020). She was the owner of that company in 2020 and 2021 which is why she was paid that much. And that does not include her income from her copyrights and other sources.
BlackPink is immensely more famous than the former owner of Edam Entertainment and creates much higher sales figures but it is estimated that they were paid around $10 mil every year, although because they had concert income they would be paid higher in 2023.
Still their earnings would not exceed $20m per person.
They already saw the example of Lee Jieun, who made more money for herself even though her sales were immensely smaller than theirs, because she was her own boss and was able to pay herself.
Wouldn't the members want to become their own bosses, or at least business partners?
At that point, it is either to make themselves richer , or make YG and Teddy richer. So if they choose to discontinue, they can't be blamed.
