Now, I'm not a fan but I see a discussion on reddit about BTS book that they talking about their journey in this industry. It's interesting tbh and even as non fans I actually want to purchase it because many said they talking a lot about the reality of what happened behind the camera. Anyway, I'm interested in that break wing project that people said they mentioned in their book. I still didn't get any answers about it, so anyone here know about it?
What is break wing project that Bts mention in their book?

It was started by a certain fandom and others join in trying to sabotage BTS comeback during the Wing era. They were trending numerous horrible things about the boys. That's why they became aware of the hate campaign. There is a reason why plagiriasm and sajaegi was attached to their names in the past.

The physical books I belive have very helpful QR Codes that provide links to certain events.
The digital copies also have links, very useful.

I have many questions tbh especially about how and why it started and how it effects Bts career. Basically I just wanna know full story 😅. I have asking my irl army friends since 2015 about it but she quote me with 'it was not a nice memory to remember'. I kinda tempting to search about it on twitter but yeah don't want to see any fanwars so I avoid that app.

ngl bringing it back brought up some shiver in me because the verbal abuse thrown was so bad so it’s not trauma only for bts but for us, but maybe your friend refuse to talk about it is because you just can’t talk about the hate campaign from May 2016 to November 2018 without mentioning fandoms (yes several of them) and it will never end up well
Break Wings project happened as the peak of BTS hate campaign, started from May that year when HYYH pt. 1 take success and BTS start gaining popularity, but fandom of older bgs accused bighit to manipulate album sales in several viral pann posts because their sales number were closer to the biggest kpop album sales record that time around, which is unimaginable in the world where it's big3 or failure, pre-target, pre-US, pre-everything.
russian army caught up with the scandal and brought up their receipt of coordinated fan sales not unlike china bar today to twitter, and then the rest of international armys brought up their own receipt and excel sheet to shield bts from korean fandoms since korean armys were sooo small in number, and that was how the hate gone full scale to international part of fandoms
there were many plagiarism accusation toward bts from previous albums, to the tiniest thing like hair color and the replies to those posts and tweets basically were death threats, slut shaming, racist, xenophobic, homophobic slurs you can imagine. everyday there was popular pann post demanding apology from bts
Break wings is a project to break “wings” album performance and bts as artist because wings preorder was closer to a million which was never happened to a single album in kpop, ever. There are lists still rotated in twitter now containing to-do list to do for fandoms, i.e. hate comments for the bst mv, twitter worldwide accusation of sajaegi and bringing it to court, terror to army and made them deactivate, tried to suspend our translator back then which was peachisoda to cut communication with k-army, doxxed army (this part really gets me because a minor mutual of mine was doxxed and sent porn links)
all of that is coordinated for one date, at the few hours time of bts’ seoul concert when army paid attention to bts and concert itself. So imagine at the happiest time that bts finally take off (and bts themselves had told us that they thought this was gonna be their magnum opus and will never be more successful after this), bts tried to make cute post-concert tweet and suddenly twitter turned into waves of hate with #breakwings trending worldwide
It was very stressful time and touring afterwards because there’s legit death threats for jimin in US sent to venue and twitter, and the hate didn’t even let up after bts’ first mma and mama daesang that year, followed with accusation of being war supporters by Japanese right wingers, china fandoms and some officials trying to link bts to hongkong resistance, and so much more
So yeah, that’s the gist, i gloss over so many things because then i would have to put many disturbing pictures and mention fandoms and i’m not feeling like getting wp today muah💋

Oh and effect on bts…hmm largely very mentally taxing on their part, they did have to go to court as witness because the sajaegi accusation had been submitted and there was investigation to it but the result said there was no sales manipulation, all data provided online and in store largely match. Love yourself series also full of songs being reflective of their self worth and whether they deserve to internalize such hate
And i guess for army it made us very rigorous with understanding how korean music industry works? Cracking down how album sales work, how artist revenue works in streaming platforms, we just make knowledge our weapon to support bts charting so they’ll never get questioned about their popularity and ended up breaking many records for bts and get them to BBMAs, and we started all over with US music charting
So basically the project make army’s bed, and now we all lie in it

It was horrible.
BTS had it worst than any bg fandom. I lived through it.
Those fandoms were like a never-ending swarm of wasps. Horrible experience.
