Bruno Mars had the concert in the Olympic Main stadium, and Gidle and Mamamoo in smaller venues - Why the Main Stadium should have been off limits to domesticists

  • The Chamshil Olympic Main Stadium in Seoul finally gained enough funding to start its long rumored remodeling, and the Bruno Mars concert, sponsored by Hyundai Credit Card Company (read: Mars is guaranteed a sum no matter how many tickets are sold - not surprisingly he only did 100 minutes as stipulated on the contract, unlike BTS whose concert lasted about 180 min, and the figure I always mention about 195 min) reportedly sold out.

Mars is one of several foreign acts , like Coldplay, which sold out the stadium.

On the same day, there was a Lotte Family Concert (The Lotte corporation owns a bunch of properties around that area), featuring acts like aespa, itzy and nct dream in the Gymnastics Arena (11,000), and Gidle has its concert in the Indoor Stadium (normally 11,000 but sometimes for concerts it closes the 3rd floor, which reduces the capacity to 7,000.)

And Mamamoo has its concert in the Handball Arena (5,000).

Agust D will have his concert in Seoul at the Indoor Arena soon, and NCT 127 and NCT Dream their fanmeetings.

NewJeans will have its fanmeeting at the smaller Handball Areana.

All these internationally renowned acts have to have their concerts in smaller venues in Korea.

I wrote quite a few pieces to say that allowing a domesticist to have a full scale concert at the Olympic Stadium was wrong, because at least to the Korean (I am not allowed to use dashes in country names anymore) psyche,

The Singer who Failed to Sell out even an Arena Outside of Korea has reached the same league with BTS by selling out the Main Stadium for days on Sep 17-18, 2022.

The authorities in Seoul should have denied her permission with the excuse that she had no experience selling a stadium outside of Korea, and if she had launched a lawsuit they could have dragged it so by the time she might have won the remodelling would have begun and she would never had the chance to equal herself to BTS.

Because she was allowed to have a concert at the Olympic Main Stadium, at least among the Koreans, the perception that she is the equal of BTS will remain for ever.

    >In 2022, she became the first Korean female soloist to headline a concert at Seoul’s Olympic Stadium, selling out the venue in five minutes, with peers and admirers like Jung Kook of BTS, Jihyo and Jeongyeon of Twice, and TXT’s Soobin and Beomgyu there to celebrate her triumph.

Allowing her to do that has cast a loooooong shadow in KPop. which future acts will find very hard to remove since no matter how many albums they sell outside of Korea, the domestic pop will not see them in the top league because The Singer who Failed to Sell out an Arena outside of Korea, but spent all of her career trying to undermine KPop whenever she could (and succeeded to a large degree as her style of personal KPop became mainstream among 4th gen idols), has taken the same position as BTS as the only acts which sold out more than 45,000 seats in the main Stadium for 2 days.

  • the problem of Korea is lack of modern venue of big capacity which would have full roof

and it will probably be like that until CJ LiveCity Arena will be built, it is supposed to have 20k seats
