How is it that today and even in 3rd gen groups sell more and more with each comeback when during 2nd gen groups would peak and then start selling less and less with each comeback?
TVXQ and Super Junior were the two best selling groups of 2nd gen but they did eventually peak by year 5 and began to sell less each time. Usually a couple hundred thousand less.
Then you look at a group like Seventeen who apparently is selling more with each comeback. Millions more actually.
Yes kpop is bigger today and is worldwide but that still doesn't add up to me. Let's say for example Seventeen somehow managed to get 1 million new fans since their last release. That doesn't automatically mean 1 million new sales. Buying albums is still a niche practice these days. Most people are just gonna listen Seventeen on spotify or YouTube. Only die hard fans buy albums and sometimes not even them.
My boy Eman is a huge ONCE but I don't think he has ever bought a Twice album. Or any kpop album. And this isn't shade it's just reality.
So where are these sales coming from for a veteran group like Seventeen or any group who manages to double or their sales with every release?
If Super Junior were increasing their sales like todays groups they would be at 20 million pre orders by now.
Something is not adding up right.
