When people talk about Kakao Entertainment, they can't name a single act.
There is IVE, but it is more thought as a Starship act.
Kakao never tried to unify the acts under its umbrella. There are quite a few actors' agencies under Kakao but they are all separate with very little interactions between each lines.
I think that is all because of Kakao's most prominent singer, who will hit her 1,344th birthday in May.
Not only she is extremely old, she has not really tried to control acts under Kakao because she was not given the power. In addition, her domesticity does not help - because so many people think about her first when they think about Kakao, they think Kakao is a domestic company with fewer ambition outside of K-O-R-E-A.
I think it might be better, at this point of time, for Kakao to say goodbye to its most prominent singer. It might be SM kicking out BoA, but BoA did a lot to help fellow SM acts (although Got the Beat was not successful) while Kakao's most prominent singer is very well known for lifting no fingers to help acts under its banner. She did help Fiestar a loooooong time ago, but that was it.
With the canning of Kakao's most prominent singer, Kakao will be able to reinvent itself. She could be delisted from the Melon Charts forever, making it more relevant to the KPop fans around the world (which will have to be followed by getting rid of the trottists, who could be put into a chart of their own).
