Those type of shows are why we don't have these type of interaction anymore because they lead to many rumors, are we forgetting how people hated A pink's Naeun for being in we got married with Taemin , what is happening with k-pop right now are the consequences of 2end and 3rd gen companies decided to not take any risks anymore

The changed probably did happen around the 3rd gen.
Red Velvet Joy was on the marriage show, I am sure people hated on her.
It is sad that those haters won out at the end, I know many people loved the Naeun-Taemin program, many people would still ship them years later, but as the OP said, companies wanted to play it safe and became more conservative since the segment of fans that don't want their faves interacting with the opposite gender can be very loud.
