BigBang are called the Kings of Kpop for many reasons. Their success, their longevity, their paving the way of idols writing and producing their own music, and even the invention of the light stick that all groups use today.
BTS became the biggest musical act in the world thanks to great timing and a little bit of luck along with great marketing strategy. Music and image wise they really aren't much different from the other 5 million boy groups so even though they pour more money into Korea than any act ever they feel like more of the same.
Anyone over 25 will automatically think of BigBang when they hear the word kpop. True BTS are bigger but there are far more people on earth over 25 than under so BigBang and what they've done for the industry since 2006 is more impressive.
