Maybe because three out of five members were already known, and two out of those were and are very popular, so its not about rediscovering those people? Idk just theorising, seems like people get some sort of knee jerk hate reaction with new and popular groups.

Also as the whole thing with Garam blew over maybe people were relieved the others continued doing well despite the scandal.
