JYPE’s biggest mistake was not putting Somi in twice

  • TWICE was made up of the 7 most popular members from Sixteen plus 2 that JYPark added.

Somi wasn't popular enough and her talent was sh*t compared to the other 2 unpopular members.

Yeah, they ham it up in the Final with Tzuyu but if you'd paid attention, you should already know that she was the most popular member for the last 3 weeks.

But ultimately Somi offers nothing to TWICE as the group has done perfectly well with no native English Speakers because they rarely use it.

You could argue that TWICE would be better having Natty because they do have connections in Thailand although Natty was even less popular than Somi.

NGGs are for life, there are 4 GGs since the late 1990's that have a Nation's Title, TWICE are one so they didn't need Somi

  • JYP was correct when he called Somi a star in the last episode of Sixteen. Too bad JYPE couldn't figure out how to capitalize on that with her career, causing Somi to leave.

Somi and Twice are better off friends rather than co-members.

Somi is still young enough that she could still join TBLGG if she wants that GG experience.

  • Somi left JYP recently tho. She didn;t make it to the final round of Sixteen.

Meh, you're right  I'm mixing up the TWICE and ITZY debuts.

There was no need to add Somi in Twice. She would add nothing to the group. Yeah, she's fluent in English but that's not necessary. Twice can tour and chart in US just fine without an English speaking member.

She is a better singer than most of Twice, yeah but her dancing or stage presence is not really that great. Y'all overrate her.

I like her music rn so imo, she made the right decision to leave JYPE.

But the same could be said of some of the current TWICE members, that they're not as necessary and contribute far less compared with the core members - in fact, this could be said about any group especially if they're larger than 3-4 members.

'status quo bias' often plays a role: as soon as a group is debuted and fans have grown emotionally attached to the current members, they can't imagine anymore how other people could ever improve upon the group setup that they as a fan have grown to love.

Regarding Somi, I disagree that her stage presence is not that great, or less than all other TWICE members: Somi's often been praised for her stage presence in group performances and individual performances, and she did great in IOI.
