Why was Queendom 2 so devastating to everyone who participated?

This season was always going to flop tbh.

The 1st season had at least a couple of names that still had some drawing power. AOA, G-IDLE, and Mamamoo was still near their peak of popularity. Park Bom has always done decently on the charts as well.

Last season had basically 0 groups that had ever had any real impact in Korea. Closest they got was VIVIZ and Hyolyn, but VIVIZ had not taken off like G-friend did and Hyolyn was past her peak in GP relevancy. Only people who tuned in were fandoms, and a good portion of that was international fans to the point they had to change the requirements for the last round.

I would say none of them where "hot" or big hitters to me, sure they are recognisable names but none of them made me excited to watch (I only watched because of Taeyeon) you know a show has poor participants if I only watch because of the host...

My guess is the newness of the show concept had worn off, less interesting groups and artists (for the general public) so less buzz, and other groups and things that attracted the public's eye more at the time season 2 was running.

But I'm guessing here.

Hip was not bad, it reached #4 on Gaon/Circle.

Below past hits like Starry night (2) Dalcomani (2) and Yes I am (2), the same as Egotistic (4).

Every song after Hip has done worse than #4.

So we can say that Mamamoo at least maintained their status right after Queendom.
