Yeah Kobasu is 17 and she allready is older than the average Shiba
My family adopted abandon dogs and we had a total of 7 dogs at one point. Then as they get older, they have been passing away one by one. The last 4 dogs lived a long time - they were all 15 years+. Two years ago, the white lab died of old age and she went peacefully. Last year, two dogs - a black lab and a goldie, also died of old age illness complications. I was so heartbroken because it was a bit sudden for them both. This year, my last black lab, also passed away due to old age. He was 16 and loosing his body functions and going senile. Def the hardest part of having a pet is when you loose them - since they are like family.
I wish Kabosu and easy passing w/o pain and suffering.

I had a few different dogs too when I was a kid. One of them also died from cancer so I know how it feels. Our dog who had cancer only turned 9 years old

I had 4, 2 of them died on health issues, one was the dog who had cancer and the other one died in a surgery (our vet told us to get our dog neutered cause he was dripping blood from his penis all the time and our dog didn't made it. The vet btw felt sorry for many years so whenever he saw us he said he still felt sorry for the dog, because "I did surgery on over 1.000 dogs and never had a dog passing away and now one died and its so sad" he allways said)
