They waited for over three years saying they hadnt yet made a decision on enlistment, and still when bts decides for themselves to enlist in the military, the government is continuing to use them for their own benefit. They are so focused on their Expo Bid. If they wanted to use bts for these reasons couldnt they have exempted them from service or at least given them an alternate option??
the south korean government failed bts

BTS have always wanted to enlist since it’s a mandatory service . That’s where these conclusions should end imo. As for Govt wanting to use them for the bid even after their enlistment, it’s just very sad. They have thrown BTS under the bus for their selfish purposes many times. BTS never said they want exemption.

im not saying they wouldnt have enlisted anyway, i just mean that if the government was going to constantly use them like this, wouldnt it make more sense if they at least gave them an option because without it, it feels very fake and manipulative in the sense that they just use bts for whatever is gonna help them get further.

If BTS were football players, even those who gets benched for most of the games then yes the Govt would give them these benefits and options. Unfortunately pop stars don’t get these options regardless of how much contribution and soft power they provide

i think bts at least should have been given a short, "special" service like son heungmin. they're treating bts like they owe the sk gov something when they didn't get ANY benefit from the gov. i mean, they did the busan concert for free! well, not like we don't know the sk gov has always had corruption issues, much like pretty much every gov in the world.

It did loyally.
There were a few ex-military, rabidly conservative congressmen such as the dumbf*ck who cited Suga's lyrics, who still think we live in the cold war.
There were also some people who thought younger I-N-C-E-L-S would be worth something in the ballto box as well.

It is because they know they can get away with it. By the time BTS is released, they won't be anything. So no revenge even if they all decide to give up their Korean citizenship by that point of time.

It is Bang's fault.
If they had domiciled in some other country (there would have been no shortage of countries to take them), and operated from there, there would have been the center of KPop, not K-O-R-E-A.
But Bang got greedy and accepted investment from govt agencies, which became the undoing of BTS.

ppl in SK government are cowards.
They will be something, but they won't have
World Domination
Largest concerts of the earth
The darling of the entire world's media
The fear of everyone else on earth
etc.
At most they would be another act, mostly pandering to its existing fanbase, about 1/8 of its former self.

BTS in 2025 will be a far cry from where they were earlier this year.

But you could also argue that other groups only gaining popularity after bts enlists shows how little impact they had to begin with.

Boy, this bears repeating
