How did Hybe manage to convince Sunghoon/Kazuha to drop ballet/figure skating to become an idol?

    Approved the thread.
  • Didn't Sunghoon already explain that he joined to get better at dancing for figure skating and then decide he liked it better?

  • This Sunghoon narrative kills me lol.

    I love him...like a lot.

But as a figure skating fan and my main favorite guy is THEE Yuzuru Hanyu..its clear to say I've seen what good figure skating looks like, and know skating scores like the back of my hand.

And judging from what I saw in terms of Sunghoons stats and even his skating videos...he wasn't making any noise anyway. Heck, I didn't even hear about him till he debuted and found out what his background was.

He's not even on Cha Junhwans level.

He only competed at a lower level with other skaters who was...on a lower level. So even if he did "win" anything, in terms of a trophy, it wasn't anything to brag about. It was just the judges having to choose between who was the less bad. Again, no hate, but being realistic.

Far as in Kazuha, she's my bias, but imma be real with her too. She wasn't this amazingly wonderful ballerina like people think. She was a average ballerina that's it. Just knowing A little bit more than basic skill sets.

No wonder they became A idol, cuz that was guaranteed money and fame. Their current careers wasn't going that uphill anyway🤷‍♀️.

agree with your whole post. i don’t watch pro skating and ballet a lot, only some performances at the top level, and even i can tell both sungyoon and kazuha are average at best at their sport. kpop fans love to hype their faves and usually blow their skills way out of proportion. kazuha is not this ballet genius that some people make her out to be. and that guy’s figure skating is even lower in skills

  • I appreciate your honesty :send-love-bunny:

  • Only very, very few ballet dancers are good enough to be employed full time with a renowned dance company. And out of that number, even fewer are destined to be famous in the dancing world and have a decent salary.

Unless you are the top 0.001% of ballerinas, you are not going to be a famous prima ballerina like Natalia Osipova.

Kazuha was not gonna be one of them. She’s going to be so much more famous and well paid than if she were an idol.

  • Both sports can't earn as much money as a Hybe idol, let alone all the fame and luxurious life. let's be realistic.

  • Athlete's career span is much shorter than an artist especially when both of them being scouted by big entertainment company with promising career. Let be honest here, both of them not even that good, that can secure them huge success and they know it well. Being an idol will give them fame, money and career that they seek from their sport but they able to reach it faster.

  • They didn't have a bright future in their previous career path. they are better off being an idol in Hybe

They still had a brighter future than most idols/trainees. Thry are more talented and skilled than most of their peers so they are more valuable recruits. Most idols/trainees will at best get jobs as Part timers if they weren't in kpop.

  • wasn't it their choice that they felt like becoming an idol, what convince, they just came

  • Idk about Kazuha, but honestly as an avid figure skating fan, Sunghoon just doesn't have much competitive skills to go against other elite skaters. In a field where quads are a major winning point for athletes, sadly, he ain't gonna last. He's not bad, just not good enough to stay competitive.

why are you telling me their idol prospects when i was only discussing their ballet/figure skating talents

I’m pretty sure you don’t know anything about ballet to say this about Kazuha. Prima ballerinas are the best of the best so if that is your standard then you are just using it to talk shit about Kazuha. Kazuha could have worked at least as a corps de ballet dancer and they aren’t basic ballet dancers. I don’t know why you feel the need to make Kazuha out to be an unskilled ballet dancer but you are obviously wrong.
