SM Entertainment‘s annual Halloween party, SMTOWN Wonderland, is one of the most anticipated events of the year for K-Pop fans. It’s even called the “Met Gala of K-Pop” for how over-the-top some idols’ costumes will get; fans wait eagerly on the day of to see what surprising and gorgeous looks their favorite artists will show up in. And the people responsible for inspiring this unique event are none other than SHINee!

There’s never a dull moment with them and this holiday only gives them the perfect opportunity to take it to the next level!
special on Happy Together, Key revealed how he and the other SHINee members inspired the whole event in the first place! It all started when SHINee showed up to a company-wide Halloween party in 2013 dressed in costumes. Most of the other artists were just in normal clothes, making for some hilarious pictures like this one of SHINee with Super Junior‘s Donghae and EXO‘s Kai.
BoA: Key was the first one who raised the bar for Halloween party costumes.
Key: Our team did a makeover at the first Halloween party that took place and Lee Soo Man seonsaengnim saw that and said, ‘We should do this every year.’ From there, the venue got bigger and my makeovers just got stronger.
