Is blood thicker than water for you?

uhhhhhhhhhhh idk I guess family? I’m not close to a lot of people but depends on the circumstances and stuffs

Right now, after years of my friends slowly moving away, etc., I don't have a ton of close friendships, so I'd prioritize family.

But tbh, my family are good people, but they're... not present? is maybe the best way to put it. If I absolutely needed something or it's Christmas or Thanksgiving, they would be there. But if I just WANT someone to talk to or to go check out a new place or just do something fun, then they'll put 100% of the effort on making it happen on me and then MAYBE they'll show up. And that's a pretty big maybe.

So I'm working on cultivating closer friendships, and I could see my answer changing some day. I've really had a realization this year that I can't keep making myself unhappy by looking to people who don't want what I want. I don't want to be isolated and lonely like they are, so it's on me to prioritize people who reciprocate.

I come from China and familial piety is just as important there again because of traditional and culture and Confucianism and all that

furthermore there is the expectation of reciprocity in that one would also expect one's family to help you in times of need as well

obviously if one's family are douchebags then the above doesn't apply as much lol

Family is the most important thing to me so yes. My blood family are mostly gone now so I'm referring to my partner and daughter - the family I have made and I would move Heaven and Earth for them as they would for me.

id like to say itd be dependent on the situation but i realize if i really think about it, id probably pick my family first.

not in a "family means more to me" kind of way but in a "id feel nothing but guilt if i dont" sort of way.

family but really it differs for each person. my parents have been extremely helpful and considerate of me and the least i could do is help them out too. in fact i'm looking for a job right now to give them a little money boost even though i would love to give it to my friend's family who are struggling in argentina
