Kep1er members post disband: will they be big like Ive/Lsrfm?

  • So far, Hikaru will join XG after disbanding, Mashiro/Yeseo will join a group called Limelight, people suspect Hybe will bring in Bahiyyih and add her to NewJeans. Dayeon will lead in the new Jellyfish group. Do you see them hitting big?

group that mashiro/yeseo will get added in:

    Approved the thread.
  • Kep1er is nowhere near as popular as IZ*ONE was, therefore no, they won't be as big as IVE/LSRF wherever they land at.

This is such a revisionist thing to say. When they were active, they had a decently sized fanbase in Japan (due to the AKB48 group affiliations), but they were not popular amongst the GP like IOI or Wanna One were. Their songs didn't chart high like IVE's do now with Love Dive or After Like, nor did they have PAKs like IOI's Veryx3 or W1's Energetic. They got a lot more hype now with Yujin on variety shows like Earth Arcade and Wonyoung with CFs and Sakura and Chaewon by being under a HYBE label group.

  • They do have similarities in the sense that they have a big fanbase and from being an Mnet group, but Iz*One at least had some members with public recognition like Wonyoung and Sakura (in Japan). I would argue that Kepler has no one on that level.

Also Lesserafim is "big" in the sense that they're under HYBE and that gave them a lot of attention, but they don't have a hit song, they don't have popular member on variety shows, and outside of the kpop bubble they have no public recognition. It has much less to do with the Iz*One/Produce factor than it is that they're simply under a big popular label.

  • bahiyyih to NJ? no way and hope not haha they are doing fine with the current 5 members.

  • Xiaoting will be almost as big as Cheng Xiao in China in the future. Hikaru will bring some decent popularity to XG if she redebuts there. Bayyih will be decently popular and maybe Hybe will take her. I don't know about others. None will reach IVE level, except Xiaoting that will most likely surpass them in China.

  • Now way Min Heejin will let anyone mess with her group to me Bahi is better off as a solo act

    lmao revisionism where?

IZ*ONE was a success for their time, breaking the record for highest first week sales of a debut album by a girl group with their debut EP. They were selling 500k copies of their albums in 2020 before it becomes the norm.

Kep1er is nowhere near that level of success, especially compared to their contempary peers. Worse, they're not even a year old and are already declining in sales and charts.

  • Bahiyyih is under IST entertainment, I doubt that Hybe would get her to join New Jeans.

I was just about to say this. MHJ obviously has a "type" and Bahi is nowhere close to that. Hell would freeze over before MHJ adds her to NJs. Bahi stans on hard copium. Bahi already hated for being added to Kep1er. She will be dragged to filth by NJs and HYBE stans.

no, it’s not. Many of their records have since been broken but they set the record for first day sales of albums sold on a gg’s debut release and the highest views for a debut gg MV. Each of their EPs went platinum. They set the record for the highest first week sales of a gg. They had 1 of only 2 gg albums certified double platinum.

They remained one of the highest selling groups until all of the changes this year to the charts. They are still in the top 5 for most sales metrics.

In 2020, they were not only the best selling group on Hanteo, they were the most streamed on Melon.

So yes, they were very very successful.

I don’t know if Hybe will pick up Bahiyaah or Xiaoting. They’re not afraid to pick up other group’s members and those two have large fanbases. But it wouldn’t be for New Jeans. Agree with the comment above that she doesn’t fit with MJJ’s aesthetic visually or the concept NJ pushes and is part of its appeal to fans that the group is “more organic” and “less produced” than other gg.
