Yes, their music is different and slightly disjointed but when Aespa does it they eat it up. (props to aespa cause they do have a great vocal line)
Music isn't the issue I feel like they focus too much on visuals and that is messed up.

Even King of Pop Michael Jackson that was a decent singer stood out in dance more than vocals.

The artist’s talents and how good their music is has no correlation because this POP music, aka what’s popular and liked by many people. If you cared about talents so much go listen to opera or something. Most people want good songs to bop to, that’s why popular songs get popular, not because the singer is talented. they all have a distinctive sound that the public enjoys
as for nmixx their distinctive sound is bad.....
also aespa's worst song (girls) is still better than anything nmixx has ever released so not a great example
nmixx are lucky they aren't from a nugu company they would have never survived and their sales prove it

Good vocals is not that important, good *live* vocals is even less important. Dancing, performance and visuals are all above vocal ability for K-Pop girl groups. Having good songs is well above all those things though. Aespa has good songs that appeal to many people, even if you think otherwise. IVE/NJ both have great songs that's the main reason they're killing it.

If Lily had good music like IU/Taeyeon she would be treated like IU/Taeyeon.
Vocalists have been losing relevance in K-pop slowly over time. Kpop is more about the 'spectacle' - not just on stage, but idols allowing their brand image-activities to be consumed as a product.
With increasing use of autotune and lip synchs, vocals - well just an above average vocal is enough to be an idol.
Idols will rarely ever sing acapella, or live vocals of technically difficult songs.
So vocals aren't that critical for a group. So specialist vocalists are not needed.
The most successful singers, whether it's in kpop or in the west, are rarely incredible vocalist
Luna is on her 4th face at this point. Taeyeon is on her 10th and it's clear the procedures aren't agreeing with her anymore. At her peak, Taeyeon was loved for her visuals, at f(x)'s peak, Luna was constantly bashed.
