Who else is surprised Danielle is the second least popular member in NewJeans?

I genuinely thought that all you had to be is be pretty and fit Korean beauty standards if you were from big 4 companies. All the praise I read how she looks like a lead from a romcom netflix movie/tv series and her looks from chanel event just for her to get one of the lowest views on her fancams? She is pretty AND can sing. I didn't expect her to get Lisa numbers, but definitely top 3 OR at least not large gaps between her and other members(Haerin getting 100k likes vs Danielle getting 12k).

I know they will always choose full Koreans first, but Back then in 3rd gen, Somi (half white half Korean) got #1 on produce. I remember Vernon got so much attention for looking like young leo. So I thought they loved pretty wasians.

I had the same mindset whenever I saw how much hate Bahiyyih(or Giselle) got. She wouldn't get even half of the hate she got, had she looked like Danielle. As long as you are pretty, you won't get that much hate(visuals on the other hand get overlooked).

Idk what's with Hyein. Maybe it's her age(although Wonyoung/Leeseo/Yuna didn't have that problem)/her visuals do not align with koreans' standards, but I do feel like maybe when she grows up, she will gain popularity.

I'm not surprised even though she's my personal favorite. I'm a face person. Facial expressions are really important to me and model-like physiques are not, but many people in this world need bodies. Since she's a minor, I will not go into detail.

If she gets some Western solo work she could gain a huge fanbase though, she looks like a model, has a beautiful voice and she has the sweetest aura. Westerners would eat her up.

She’s super pretty and very popular too but it’s partly because the other girls outshine her by too much! Haerin goes viral for looking like a cat, Minji is the new nations first love and Hanni is praised for being adorable and is showcased as the better dancer, singer, all-rounder. Hopefully they can go on more varieties and have more chances for her to show off her charms.

I think knetz love the wasian/halfer look but not enough to support them like they would for full Korean idols. Which is hypocritical because they looooovee Hanni who is not Korean at all.

She's the 2nd most popular internationally so it balances out esp when they focus on becoming a global group

Danielle is great and all, but the other 3 are just too charming (minji, haerin and hanni) so they took more attention, it is what it is.

According to online discourse I've read there is currently a push back against new mixed idols in KPop. I don't know why that would be, Vernon and Somi still seem to be maintaining their popularity.

Maybe it's that Danielle is too pretty and it's making knetz jealous and mad. It would not be the first time.

The problem has nothing to do with Danielle herself, if we can even call this a problem. No, it has to do with the fact that the other three in front of her are just too strong. While Danielle is super pretty and Koreans DO actually love her visuals Minji and Haerin are just on another level unfortunately which would have maybe left Danielle in third place except Hanni is SEA, and as we know with lots of SEA, they always get a LOT of support. That combined with the fact that she is also really pretty gives her a leg up over Danielle. Hyein is in a similar situation where she'd probably be more popular if she wasn't literally 14 and NJs didn't JUST have a p*do scandal. Lots of NJs fans have already been nastily called the p*dos for even daring to stan NJs it's no wonder majority of stans are avoiding her like the plague.

But to sum it all up, rather than anything being wrong with Danielle it's more that all of New Jeans is just super busted in terms of visuals and charms but no matter what someone still has to be first and someone still has to be last and that's just how the die was cast for Danielle.

Koreans aren't big on white people flooding into K-pop. (Sorry to disappoint you, but the "one drop rule" doesn't go one way: she's white). Vernon and Somi slid in just in time; I think the public is kind of over it for now.

Also, she's very popular - the most popular - internationally: a plurality of foreign fans from European and European-colonized nations with part-European populations (Latin America, most of SEA, etc.) will consistently (always, basically) bias the white, least Korean, and/or least East Asian member. It's very predictable.

Hanni is East Asian: she's clearly very likely full Chinese stock (i.e., none of the Indic genes that many SE Asians like my beloved Hanbin have); it's like how Kazuha and the majority of Japanese members in groups are full Yayoi (i.e. Korean admixture/none of the Jomon genes).
