Money is only aspect of privilege, Kakao, CJ E&M might have more money than the Kpop Big 4, but they don't have the pedigree and connections.

Starship has done a fantastic job with their GGs.

WJSN while not a big hit, didn't disband or implode like their contemporary 3rd gen groups and are still active.

What's missing in you otherwise correct post, is that IU climbed to SuperstarDom in 2010 itself and only kept climbing.. Long before Kakao came into the picture in 2016.

And probably till today she is 80-90%(?) of Kakao M's revenues, even though they have other decently successful acts ike Apink.

Maybe this year IVE will be a significant second for Kakao M.

Ateez have reached the billboard thanks to hello82 and a few physical stores that have signed an agreement with hello82. Hello82 works with Ateez thanks to the fanbases who managed to negotiate with them. Now the only problem of Ateez is the album production which have unfortunately some problems.

Yes, thats why she flopped with her debut that her own company set her up for, after which she went around begging for work on radio/tv stations by herself and appeared on 5-6 shows a week in her first two years. By the time good day came out she was already gaining fame with a few minor hits before that (boo, marshmallow, nagging), good day just catapulted her the last bit.

If the reason IU is the biggest singer in korea is because of melon and its power, why has basically every single act other than IU they've ever tried to debut flopped? The only exception have been a few songs that IU wrote/featured in.

Also impressive how melon apparently have to power to make IU #1 on all competing services as well at the same time, when they could not even get their other acts into top 20 on their own chart.
