Ive outcharts 4th gen + 3rd gen except Bts/Blackpink on US Spotify. Why?

  • After Like #82 on Spotify US. Closest group to do so 4th gen is Stray Kids top 106. Twice never did it either. Are you shocked? How did they outdo groups from big labels?

  • Good song that people actually want to listen to. The song have been on repeat for me since they drop it

  • I’m not surprised. Their music is good and NORMAL, thank god starship has never chased after gg trends in that department, and their image/concept is more well like in the west than twice’s. The members are pretty, and they’re not from a nugu company with nugu members. Their voices are also serviceable for their songs and they don’t suffer from the stigma twice has regarding their vocal skills, so listening to ive’s songs doesn’t make you scrunch your face in distaste because the vocals sound terrible sometimes, unlike twice. Literally all the ingredients are right there for them to blow up.

  • Cause they have good music and the members have the it factor

  • Well, at least people can't still go around claiming they only have good streams because of Japan and SEA.

Bruh you didn't have to go that hard. What else? Say more

  • Sm/jyp acts will never unless they release a truly catchy non noise public friendly song. But knowing how stubborn sm is, it's unlikely. Twice is too bubble gum pop-ish or just boring. Their new song doesn't sound promising.

Hybe is too bland with lsf. Maybe nj will do better with their cb, but idk.

Ygngg can easily do it if they do 21 3.0, but I read they want to do something new. Although their gg music never disappointed west's taste, so I think they will be the only ive rivals

  • WITHOUT US LABEL

this screams organic to me like the beginning of bp and bts

  • It's a single album. After Like didn't have to share streams with 6 other songs unlike Maniac did.

  • Not really but I’m surprised they got higher than SKZ since I heard SKZ have a lot of US fans. I guess IVE have more casual listeners or it’s the familiar sample they used.

lol what more do you want me to say? i don’t have a twice bashing kink btw if that’s what you’re looking for. just saying the hard truths to answer op’s questions.

but i do have to admit that the other day when i heard the highlight medley for twice’s next album i was rather shocked to hear their very jarringly subpar vocals even in such a short snippet. i feel like i’ve been getting too used to top ggs not sounding terrible in their songs in the last year during twice’s hiatus thanks to ive, lesserafim, newjeans that now when twice do come back the difference between their skills and those ggs’ sounds all the more apparent. bp’s vocals don’t impress me either but they do mask it well with the theatrics, but twice don’t have that, so their raw vocals become centre stage and it’s just not pleasant to listen to at all. kinda disappointing tbh considering they’re almost 7 years into their career now

  • Why are you surprised? BTS did that too when they were from a near bankrupt label. Huge label is a great help but obviously some acts have something extra that can propel them in the spotlight in spite of their disadvantages.

This makes no sense in the US. Most people who listen to kpop there are already kpop fans, they're open to niche genres, they don't need the song to be as basic as a pop song can get to like it.

  • The Feels entered US Spotify last year so miss with the "Twice never did" bs

That is not true. Kpop can attract casual fans if their music is appealing enough, it's what happened to Blackpink as a decent amount of their casual listeners aren't into kpop at all. It's what happened to Gangnam Style and Dynamite, ffs.
