NewJeans Hanni debut confirmed one thing for me...

  • Vietnamese support for Kpop is not as big as I thought there were. Here you have a talented and visually stunning looking vietnamese idol, all though she is raised in Australia, but all the comments I've seen on sns and youtube, the vietnamese comments are barely there. If Hanni was indonesian or filippino, the comments would be 90% their language. Just look at Dita of Secret Number. Every video of SN and her, you got thousands of comments in indonesian langauge, outdoing the english or korean ones.

  • It's because Vietnam has it's own music industry that's doing way better than Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia's music industry

  • I understand what you're saying but at the same time, I'd rather that idols were praised for their talent than for their origin/ethnicity.

Also, I don't think it does anything for a kpop group active in Korea to have their comment sections flooded by posts in a foreign language.

  • I disagree Hanbin's appearance on iland made a lot of buzz, I think it depends upon the company and the group. Hybe was a big company and show had a lot of attention so it made noise meanwhile Hani, most people didn't even know was Vietnamese.

  • She isn't nationally Vietnamese.

I wonder if Koreans in South Korea would automatically stan a grammy-winning American-born Korean who may never have set foot in SK and who only releases music in English and targets Western audiences.

Sure they would. We know Koreans live for western clout.

Some sources said that Hanni was born in Hue which is in Vietnam while other sources said that Hanni was born in Melbourne which is in Australia.

  • She did not showing her pride for vietnam, so why do the vietnamese care for her?

  • Does Vietnam even have the internet? It's possible that they are just less connected which is why there isn't the traction you'd expect.

LMAO so many dumb kpop fans. How do you have the audacity to post your idiocy on the internet. Vietnam has more people using the internet then Thailand.
