but these days to get more people to listen to K pop, they make and write songs in english. So, what if, for example, amercian producer produced a song in english for Korean idol. should I call that a K pop?
western producers make songs for kpop idols all the time. So I feel like changing the language wouldn't change it significantly imo. It's still kpop to me since it comes from a Korean artist.
tbh, the lines between kpop and pop can blur so I'm not that concerned about what classifies as what. I enjoy it for what it is.
korean language, korean people, korean music shows, whole package, visuals, aesthetic music videos etc
oh yeah competition and die hard fans
the music itself is the same as any global pop music
its mostly the aesthetics and concepts and visuals and other selling points of kpop were quite unique to kpop so it was called kpop
that said, foreigners are trying their best to make their way into kpop now so maybe thats why you dont feel there's nothing very korean about it?
i mean i think its very obvious the focus on a specific type of visual and focus on looks above skills in general is very unique to korean culture and kpop is a reflection of it
It's pop music from Korea and is influenced by Korean language, culture and politics. Sometimes the differences to other pop music may be subtle but they're still there.
i am confused
