Jisoo vs Joy: Who will be the more successful actress when it's all said and done?

  • I actually don’t understand why Jisoo’s voice is such a big problem. Like I understand it’s a very common thing in the Korean acting industry to prefer certain voices but it’s never made sense to me; I wonder if it exists in Hollywood too and I just don’t notice it? Very odd to me since I don’t particularly have any preferences regarding voices.

But anyhow, I’d put Jisoo’s skills far above Joy’s. Her voice can be worked on and it takes a lot less to fix whatever qualms netizens have about it than develop Joy’s skills, which have shown little growth over the years and experience she has had so far.

it's the lisp more than her voice but I'm sure it could be improved her lisp used to be worse and if she takes more diction classes she will get better

  • I mean this forum is full of just Big 3 related discussions all the time. Even if the conversation starts with non-Big 3 stuff, it doesn't get as much engagement and often just diverge into Big 3 idols.

But if you want to talk about non-Big 3 idol actress from 3rd gen, it's Sejeong and Bona, then IOI girls then everyone else.

Sejeong is clearly head and shoulders ahead than even Bona. Bona only had one hit drama and it's a second lead role in a Kim Taeri drama. I-fans especially on here wouldn't know much about Kim Taeri but she's a huge name in Kdrama/films and Bona just rubbed off imo. We still don't know how Bona would do in a drama by herself as the lead role.

Arin is also doing very well, right? Naeun from april had a chance too but idk if there's any hope left

  • Joy´s problem is sm, they always pick roles that are sailor moon speech level, and she wasn´t even up to that level. But lets say, it was difficult to pull that kind of work out.

Jisoo, got a good role, but she got so much hate because of the controversy with the story line, she got tired of being an actress it very soon

  • jisoo did great for a first timer and managed to blend in and not stand out terribly amongst the seasoned cast full of veteran actors in snowdrop. Which talks a lot about her potential. Personally I have got nothing against her voice colour but I guess its another one of those korean things, we are just not familiar with. Joy, honestly I didn't find her any good acting wise but maybe she can improve later.

  • it's the lisp more than her voice but I'm sure it could be improved her lisp used to be worse and if she takes more diction classes she will get better

Oh I guess that makes sense. Again, I’m not too picky about these sorts of things so I wouldn’t know but I do think I’ve heard of this preference in various acting industries. I do think that if Jisoo decides to pursue acting further (which I hope she does, she has a lot of potential and I’d be really disappointed if Snowdrop’s controversy soured her experience) it will get better with time. She’s nowhere near the worst idols when it comes to acting imo so she does have the potential to get good roles as well.

  • joy, despite being an actress for years have not found her success yet. jisoo could do decently well with the support of international blinks. however, both would not end up like 2nd gen top stars like suzy and even the likes of yoona. even krystal did better than them.

  • Not much discussion there tho. It's clearly Sejeong above the rest.

Yes, Sejeong has a massive lead in acting, over all other 3rd gen idols.

She started almost immediately after IOI and kept at it, through all the ups/downs of gugudan. Though the initial dramas School 2017, I wanna hear your voice were nothing to brag about, it helped her build a reputation along with all that variety work, so PDs know they had someone both popular and reliable.

Success came with Busted, then Uncanny Counters and of course the superhit Business Proposal.

Others have quite to catch up on. Popularity might get the initial gigs, but ability has to be proven.

Joy has had many opportunities, but has not shined so far. She might end up kind of like T-ara Jiyeon in acting, instead of an IU.

Jisoo, Snowdrop was ok, the fandom and the public will accommodate for an initial outing. But again the feedback seems that "she was ok", rather than public being awed.

    Future projects will decide.

But I don't get the impression she will do well. Blackpink's future mostly seems to be that of influencers in fashion etc., rather than any substantial field like singing or acting. Heck even their past is that of influencers than idol-singers.
