Most kpop groups are carried by SEA fans on Spotify

  • What's the difference between YouTube a few years ago that used to be looked down upon for the dependence on SEA to Spotify now for kpop groups, that fans have become obsessed with?

Spotify is seen as a big aspect of western validation so gets paraded around when kpop groups are carried just as hard by SEA fans on it (more recently Japan as well), as they were on YouTube.

  • Right? Only 5 kpop groups have their top 5 cities not sea

  • You sound like those racist knetz. You do realize that anything outside of Korea is considered "international" right?

The whole point of Spotify is that it has a far reach across the globe and that's why people put so much weight on it.

Most groups who do well in SEA are also doing good in the West as well.

Try as you guys might, it's better to come to terms with your faves flopping on Spoitfy because these attempts to dismiss one of the largest global streaming platforms in the world just looks desperate.

  • Personally I never had a problem with SEA streams, back in the days my only problem was blinks saying BTS views were solely flood by armys when it was the same for them but from SEA countries:/

anyway you're right, but at least you can have country specific charts and overrall charts which can help into understand what's actually getting numbers

  • wow people look down on sea countries a lot ;( why ? because we're poor and unprofitable compared to other continents? but we buy albums , merch and watch concerts too :-(

    the victim complex.

op is just saying, said 'global groups' might not be global at all if most streams coming from one region.

  • Did you even read the OP? I'm calling out the hypocrisy of people that used to look down on Youtube due to the SEA aspect.

"Spotify is seen as a big aspect of western validation"

  • True though. Except BTS everyone’s biggest Spotify country streams are in Asia

So why are you picking out SEA? Like I said, groups that do well on spotify AREN'T just carried by SEA. That's a sweeping generalization based in racist bullshit. Drop the break downs of all these so called SEA carried groups then, so we can see instead of bringing up SEA needlessly to drag these groups.

SEA has always been one of BTS's strongest supporters too though.

Lisa is from Thailand. Twice are popular in Japan because of the Japanese members. Blackpink are popular in SEA because of their SEA member, just as Got7 are. What's the problem with that?

No it's not, have one look at kworb and see where most of streams come from for various groups and their songs. Not racist, just facts. Saying SEA carries streaming for most groups ergo groups popularity stems from those areas is not racist...in the slightest.
