They do it to male idols too. Have you not heard of all the Namjesus memes? As for why they do it, I'm not entirely sure. In many religions though, God is considered to be perfect, or at least extremely good, and some people view their idols through a very similar lense. It probably isn't a really healthy mindset (to see an idol as human perfection when we barely know them I mean) to have. To be fair, I used to get sometimes irked by it, but now I no longer have any strong feelings on the matter. They could be saying much worse things instead, I'll just let it go.
