Im having a weird phone number problem with my twitter account, can anyone help me out

i had a phone number linked to my twt account but then i removed the phone number from my account through settings some time ago

today my twt account got locked (I'll be honest i was doing little trolling on stan twt) and now twt is asking me to verify my account with a phone number to unlock it,

when i put my phone number (the phone number that was earlier linked to my this twt account which i had removed) it is showing "phone number already in use" and i can't unlock my account.

I had removed my phone number from my account then how can it still be already in use?

any idea what to do
