Can you separate the artist from the art?

  • I remember that. Did Melanie ever release a statement or say anything?

She wrote a paragraph on instagram saying that she was “horrified and saddened” by what Timothy has accused her of, and said that they shared a friendship together and that she never said no to what they did together. She also make a song called “piggyback” that was apparently a response to the allegations. Overall it was a messy situation and Melanie’s response made me a little upset. Like, just because she never said no doesn’t mean she was okay with it.

  • depends on what they did...

everybody has a different moral standard for what is acceptable and not acceptable...

for example I'm still a fan of Eminem and he's done some pretty bad shit (not the worst but still)

like someone above said marriage and babies may be a sin in Korea (aka Chen and certain of this fans burnt his merch and albums and whatnot - I think it was 12 fans????) but it's a total non issue for me

  • No I don’t separate the art from the artist but this is based on my own moral compass. General one off incidents or ignorance is not something that would stop me from enjoying someone.

But take JKR for example she is transphobic openly and she does it over and over again and wants to die on that hill. I cannot separate the art from the artist for her. I cannot enjoy or talk about or feel excited about Harry Potter the way I once was.

  • Seungri was my bias, he is not anymore and only reason I still have his albums is because I do not want to put more trash into landfills but also cannot sell them successfully. If something involves sexual assault, endangerment of other humans wellbeing, believing groups of people do not deserve basic human rights, stuff like that. It makes it near impossible for me to do so, I will leave it there.
