Display MoreWhy not turn those 1 million albums in pure profit selling the, digitally? No more production costs, no more middlemen in market place either.
I would understand the concern of digital reducing the interest in albums because the albums are collectibles, but nowadays people are buying hundreds of thousands non shipping back albums... means people don't give a fuck for collecting anymore, they just want high sales to brag about on twitter
So you offer some physical albums for people who really wants to collect
And offer a digital version for people who only want to spend their money mindlessly
You just need to guarantee those digital albums will count on music shows and awards (and on Gaon/Hanteo) and boooooom, we would have a profitable and more envinronment-friendly market
The caveat here is those downloads MUST count for the charts because in the end the bulk buying is for the charts.
If you say unlimited downloads are going to inform charts I don’t think everyone is going to be happy and it’s going to take away from a lot of smaller artists or non fandom driven artists.
Unlimited physical album sales is currently not that much opposed only because the physical album chart is strictly separate in Korea.
If there weren’t then we’d have a billboard situation and they’d be capping physical sales per person.
