They've conquered Korea and China, but when it comes to America, they're not leading 4th gen like they're leading in Asia. You can say their music is not public friendly, but groups like Stray Kids or Itzy also have music not so public friendly and still doing better than them. They've also made many appearances and promoted in America a lot but the public don't seem too interested. What's limiting their appeal there?

Their lack of appeal is because SM doesn't know how to promote a group in the west. Why would any American want to see some Korean gg that they've never heard of at the Thanksgiving day parade for example? Also, they are not special in any way, they have nothing that sets them apart.
Think about it like this, if they weren't kpop, would you care about them?
