From it's beyond obvious now, he is the most popular member and I tender reading he got a lot of offers but couldn't do anything about it.

I have no way to know but I am almost convinced he was the one who wanted out back in 2018 and he might have been the one to push for solos too.

it’s true he might be the one who wanted out but how do you know why he wanted it? At that time, V just lost his beloved grandmother (which trolls made fun of), and BTS was taking off to higher heights that no kpop has done before. It was scary, and so much pressure. So based on that situation, the reasons might be more than “he’s a free spirit who wanted more”.
