How did Aespa reach a million preorder before Treasure?

    Aespa already reached 1M preorders before Treasure while they’re just a girl group, who is known to do worse in physicals. How?

    How is it a surprise to anyone? Aespa is up there as the biggest 4th gen group and SM fans overwhelmingly crush YG fans since forever. Due to the globalization of kpop. the gap between albums sales of girlgroups & boygroups are also getting closer every year.


    YG used to have gp on their side that's why people turned a blind eye to their low album sales, but truth is Winner & iKon sold 100-200k on the average. Treasure will likely become YG's biggest selling boy group when all's said and done as the standard is not very high there.

    I think the interesting thing to know would be how much those million album sold equal in actual monetary value. Because folks, 1m albums at 10 cents a piece ain't shit.

    I also want to know how they reached a million preorders if their follower count, growth and engagement on SNS are much lower than Enhypen's

    This is hilarious given treasure has more members and album versions. Plus, there was that hiatus effect

    Treasure had cheap digipacks too as aespa so no excuses

    Twice is way popular and has a bigger fandom than them and yet they don’t even pull a million preorders


    BP, biggest gg, took them a month to reach a million preorders and they sold 1.5M albums in all. Even Lisa with BP current popularity only pulled 800k preorders and sold 850k albums.


    Aespa has inflated sales and I’m sure it’s the same tactics being used by boy groups too. Let’s wait and see if this album will truly enter global charts because it has to, with that amount of sales. Their Korean core fandom is nothing to write home about when they still lose votings against boy groups. So this has to be international numbers.


    It will be funny if they don’t even enter ifpi rankings just like all those million seller nct units.

    Aespa started out a lot bigger, but YG fucked up just about everything for Treasure so they were completely irrelevant until now

    yg was never good in physicals unlike SM who had several physical monsters and they have way more company stans

    You can't compare bp numbers in 2020 vs aespa in 2022. When even nmixx is selling half a million now why can't a top group like aespa do twice as much?

    And that ifpi ranking only matters for hybe stans, they aren't as valid if they are only taking data given to them by certain companies and not being clear if they are taking hanteo or gaon into account.

    Before hybe bought Seventeen they didn't rank despite their million sellers albums, after they did, they magically appeared for the first time...

    Why are people this surprised?


    Album sales across the whole line have increased spectacularly the past year, with boy groups starting to hit 2M sales and even debuting rookie groups being able to reach 400-600k and more.


    It's no surprise at all that Aespa seems to have doubled their album sales and more compared with last year, when this has been happening for the majority of boy groups, girl groups and solo artists.

    This thread is about the album sales only. Literally no one said Aespa streams were because of SM fans, streams = gp while albums sales = fans. SM has always been the leader in physical sales since forever, they know how to build a fanbase and how to keep the fans loyal through generations.

    IVE's follower count is also low but they are also beating Treasure. Follower count=\= album sale

    YG is the opposite to SM, they've always had bad physical sales so it is not surprising. Treasure are still rookies and have a lot of time ahead to hit the 1M mark which will be a great achievement coming from a YG group

    SM inflate their artist sales. Just look at RV, their album sold 700k and entered no international charts and only charted in Korea and Cuina. Their views and streams are at a career low yet their sales are enormous.
