Roses’s solo: Why did it underperform?

  • Lisa’s solo has the sales and the international hit Money. Not to mention many idols have said they admired Lisa’s performance for Money.

Jennie’s solo was a hit in Korea and cemented her it girl status.

Jisoo’s film also made noise but for controversial reason.

Compared to other three, Rose’s solo didn’t have any substantial impact. Why?

  • You have to be obtuse to think Rose's solo didn't make an impact at all.

  • If her solo underperformed almost whole industry are flops

  • if she underperformed then most cbs last year are flops

  • also not u undermining her sales lmao, R is almost at 700k now and it had one standard version and a single album at that, the only non bp/non bp member female artist sales above it is FORMULA OF LOVE by Twice

  • Its clear what OP means.. she sold better than some ggs in total & her chart positions were good, but in the end, het solo barely made any REAL noise outside of bps fandom.

Bp is a group of 4 succesful soloists, so its very noticable when one of them doesn't perform like the rest. Her daily streams & views are low and gotten stagnant when compared to jennie's and lisa's solo's.

I think it's bc it was dissapointing for many (even blinks here agree). Her whole persona was 'the musician/artistic one' of the group, so when her solo came out & it turned out to be very generic and bland songs (that she helped writing), it really broke that idea. People didn't have the same high expectations for Lisa imo, so that helped reduce the dissapointment when lalisa came out. Money going viral & making lisas solo succesful outside of bps fandom was a surprise, but fitting for lisa.

  • Her solo made no noise outside the fandom unlike money and solo but let's be real it charted well.

  • go check some facts before posting

  • Lmao rose flop?

Sold almost 700k and did great in Korea for her debut. Internationally it was a little quieter though.

I think it’s a good set up for rose next solo, with a good song she’d do even better

  • she's the best singer but unfortunately Jennie and Lisa have 100x the It Factor. I'm not surprised her solo made the least noise.

  • If you think selling over 700,000 copies ALONE and hitting Billboard Hot 100/Billboard excl US are underperforming as a Kpop soloist , then how should I consider your flop girls going solo?

  • I think her solo OVER-performed for what it was, and for her standing in her group.

  • If the Tiktok magic hadn’t kicked in for Money, Lisa and Rose’s debuts would have had similar impact: fandom only. I don’t think it’s a fair comparison.

Tiktok magic is the literal definition of general public relevancy. If your songs go viral on Tiktok and then translate into Spotify, YT, and Billboard numbers, that means you have achieved organic success with the GP.

That is what happened with Driver's License. And Money.

  • The songs were really basic. A lot of people expected way more.

  • Cause they sounded like a 2010 Taylor swift reject

  • I wouldn't say it underperformed.

People just quickly forgot about it because it was very bland and generic.

Tbh I'm surprised it did so well, I expected a song like that to flop.
