I. Introduction

"Make A Wish (Birthday Song)" is the first track and title track on NCT's second full Korean studio album, NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 1. The album was released on October 12, 2020. It was also the ninth track on the repackage, NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 2.

This album was the second all-unit album, featuring all members from all the units at the time. This included 21 members from the four units, NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream and WayV. The Resonance project also officially introduced two new members, Shotaro and Sungchan.

This song is by NCT U and is the Korean version of the lead single, which is also on both albums. NCT U is a rotational unit where specific members are selected to match the song. This NCT U unit features these members: rapper Taeyong, vocalists Doyoung and Jaehyun of NCT 127; rapper Lucas and vocalist Xiaojun of WayV; rappers Jaemin of NCT Dream and Shotaro.

Popular Korean rapper and songwriter Penomeco is one of the lyricists on the song.

There is also an English version on both albums that is much more direct about its subject matter.

This song is one of the songs in the four-song mash-up song "Resonance", which was used as the key performance piece of Resonance award show and year-end performances.
