Poet | Artist is the second and final full-length album by Jonghyun. It was released posthumously online on January 23, 2018 and offline the following day. "Shinin’" serves as the album's title track. Profits from the album will be given to his mother and used for the Shiny Foundation to help those living in difficult circumstances. The album was finished prior to his passing on December 18, 2017, with the intended comeback set for January. Jonghyun revealed five new songs including "Only One You Need" during his solo concert "Inspired" on December 10th.

Writing for Billboard, Tamar Herman described the album as a "farewell and a sonic walk down memory lane". Billboard ranked the album as the second best K-pop album released in 2018, behind BTS' Love Yourself: Answer. Jeff Benjamin wrote that the album is "beautiful" and a "bittersweet reminder of the beloved singer, songwriter and producer's incredible talents."
Rolling Stone India
Riddhi Chakraborty of Rolling Stone India called Poet | Artist "bittersweet–awe-inspiring in its detail, finesse and lyrical impact, but also a reminder that there never will be anyone quite like Jonghyun," and also ranked it as the second best K-pop album of 2018.
