that took place prior to 2012 or early 2012 at latest. songs in 2008 could hit 5million downloads like big bangs haruharu. it was already changed by 2012.

Bangtan also after I Need You on #5, had Dope only on #44, but the next one was Top 10 again (and I know Dope was more of a promo song, but B.A.P. also had some promo songs).. so that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s already a decline, when it could have go up again with the next one if that shit never happens which came in November '14.

dude... their highest downloads were 600,000 with crash in 2012.... i was not talking about the chart position but overall downloads..... they peaked digitally BEFORE their last few cbs. dope was also...a bside for bts...

The way kpop stans have been reacting to this bh stuff is honestly super weird. They literally have no reason to hate bh the way they do when everything they're accusing bh of doing...the big3 have been doing for years. AND the big3 have a history of treating their idols like shit on top of that. All of the upset is really reading like "we just hate bts and anything associated with them". Its just so so weird to be obsessed with kpop companies to this point. What detriment is big hit owning vlive to any artist on the platform? like seriously. Naver already messed up enough with the platform.

Everyone gets a break and it depends on them to capitalize on it. Just because B.A.P was more popular at one point, doesn't mean that they would've achieved the success that BTS has. BTS achieved worldwide fame on their own, but what I'm trying to say is that when B.A.P was out of the scene, it helped propel BTS into the spotlight in Korea. This snowballed into their worldwide success.

1) BAP was already on the decline before their hiatus

as you can see they had already peaked digitally well before their last cb in 2014

2) exo was in fact the ifan fav group during this time. they were the ones that bts had to fight for fans with in terms of "world wide" anything.

3) bts got spotlight in kr because of their achievements abroad. during i need u and run, the era where they first saw success in the Korean market, they were still considered a bottom mid tier group. it took 2016 wings success and their 2017 boom with dna and bbmas to propel them to top group status. BAP was already out of the convo long before that.

i personally don't have strong feelings about it, and i agree that momo is an adult. but its not true that everyone makes good decisions for themselves. otherwise women wouldn't ever end up in abusive, unbalance relationships. i don't hate on heechul bc i don't know him but big age gaps like that do make me uncomfortable. all i can do is hope that all parties have good intentions.

i mean... the age gap thing is valid most of the time. its never a 2 year age difference. its 10+ years difference like heechul and momo which is not only a power imbalance, but creepy when you know he was eyeing her since debut at the ripe age of 18.

they're not implying anything about sabotage?? i don't get how you can think anything in the op means "sabotage". bh separating themselves from jype and sm affiliates is not sabotage and there is not any implication that it is ... you can't seriously think anyone believes that any of this will directly cause the downfall of either of those companies.

honestly tho, they weren't rlly "famous". having a viral one hit wonder and a few loyal fans does not make you famous. kpop groups are not known by the korean general besides bts and prob bp. even twice, i doubt the gp would be able to recognize all members individually. the genre as a whole is still highly looked down upon. idols turned actors get shit on, idols turned tv personalities have it a bit better if they stay relevant like dara or heechul. most idols just go back to being regular people after their group is done.

bts will continue to do what they want. you don't know them or or their goals or what's best for their career like you think you do. its been obvious for a while now that fame is exhausting for them. if they feel like they dont want to shoulder that burden individually, they don't have to.

well, again, this is the way the members have agreed to do things as a group. it would have made perfect sense and been totally ok if tae and jk decided to do official releases instead of going the "mixtape" route, since they are not rappers. but they're also diligently working on music and their projects on their own and always eager to give legitimately free tracks whenever they get the chance. plus jk has already given 2 songs meant for his mixtape to the group. i just think its slightly unfair to call this a "pretext" on bh's part, when it seems like its part of the vision the members have for themselves too. thats just my opinion though.

Hobi and Joon in the two years since HW and mono have become the most followed Korean soloists on Spotify with just their EPs and solo singles and Suga isn't too far behind. Trying to say that they're on the level of an unknown hobbyist selling stuff on Etsy is silly. They're huge stars and they definitely made some good money off their work as they should've. im kind of confused what your point is? like no1 is denying they're making money? or saying that they shouldnt? but its a fact that all of their mixtape releases are still free and without a physical component. and that is something purposeful on the part of the members and the company. Even having it on a streaming platform like spotify constitutes as it being ~free~ bc you can use spotify with or without a premium account. i think putting the tracks on itunes is what rlly changed the game but its more telling that their mixtapes are not on the korean streaming sites . what that other user mentioned about them feeling burdened by commercial success is likely very true.

i mean... you can feel this way all you want but it doesn't change what the members want lol. some fans always swear they know whats best for the members' careers when the members are well aware of what they want for themselves. and they all have a voice in bts' decisions as a group which we know for a fact.

i personally think the mixtape route works so well for them bc they can literally release their music whenever its completely ready by their own standard. official releases are on a schedule and then they have to have things sent out for production by a certain time ect ect. thats more pressure than some of the members want i think.

bts value their craft and they value their group. yoongi himself already has a blossoming career as a producer for other artists. this is just proof to me that bh will nurture the endeavors the members rlly want to go after.

its rlly weird to me that you consider bts themselves doing vlives the same as their company "pushing" them. you realize at any point earlier in their career exo could have been doing the same things on social media? they could have made a group "personal" twitter and interacted with fans, they could have filmed a lot of behind the scenes clips of themselves having fun and uploaded them to youtube, they could have connected to their fans through vlives and been more personal way more often. bts' social media presence probably was in part a marketing strategy thought up by bang pd in some regards. he has mentioned i think that he WANTED bts to have that type of freedom. but it was only bc the members are who they are individually and as a group that it even worked.

being "pushed" DOES involve legitimate promotion and media play, which is something that has been at the big 3's finger tips for years now. there is a difference between hype generated by a company's promotional tactics and hype generated by the artist themselves bc people just...like them. its the difference between the hype pre-debut groups get and the hype popular groups who have been around for a while get.
