Yes, we can.
Why didn't you put up the numbers for Boombayah?
Post those too. Please.
PWF did most of its work in 2017, but regardless, I really don't care if I was a bit hyperbolic.
BP definitely wasn't more popular than Twice, GFRIEND or Mamamoo in 2016.
By the end of 2017, they had edged ahead of Mamamoo just barely MAYBE and GFriend started to fall off with Fingertip.
By 2018, I no longer disputed BLACKPINK had arrived fully, when they topped the charts with D4 and Forever Young.
But anyone who says they were the top group at debut is stuck in some funky parallel plane of reality entirely different from the one we currently live in.
i didnt post boombayah because it was simultaneous release with whistle and whistle got all the focus. its possible to have multiple songs released at the same time do well but often the song that fits public taste more gets all the focus. that even happens to someone like IU. would you say shopper or coin reflect IU's digital strength? not really. no one thinks IU is flop now because those songs didnt do well.

I already posted the numbers. BP was way below the top girl groups in 2016.
And at the very least, they were nowhere near the being the most popular girl group in Korea on debut.
There is literally no objective data to support that, and if you get into the weeds of how they performed against Mamamoo in 2017, you've already proven my point for me.
Nobody was competitive with peak Twice's combination of digitals, album sales and touring.
Likewise, when BP rose to power, nobody could then compete with them.
And I will gladly be as annoying as I want to be about Mamamoo debuting higher than BP in 2017, snatching the UL record, blocking them from #1 and beating them 3 weeks in a row on MCountdown.
If that bothers you, then too bad. Blinks didn't mind talking shit about Mamamoo leading up to the release date of their songs, and I'm going to continue to talk shit after the fact. Nothing you can ever say will ever change that. On radish, fam.
i'm not the one trying to say bp was number one in korea at debut. just trying to correct the misinformation that bp was "WAY below" gfriend and mamamoo digitally in 2016 and 2017 as you said. you posted the yearly chart which makes proper comparison difficult, but its okay i've got the numbers.
navillera charted 29 weeks. 1.18M digitals
ytb 28 weeks. 1.25M
whistle 33 weeks. 1.24M
rough 37 weeks. 1.76M
decalcomanie 42 weeks. 1.59M
pwf 58 weeks. 1.93M
can't really say mmm and gf were "WAY" stronger digitially even comparing 2016 songs.

I said they were in 2016, not 2017. If you hate arguing about this so much, then at least get the stated time frame correct. And yes, in 2016, they were way below both groups. I have a post I've saved about this, which I will drop here if need be. It's not my opinion but a FACT.
This is cope. Before release, everyone predicted Yes I Am would be well below As If It's Your Last. I remember this better than you, I promise. Nobody on the Internet debated the predicted debuts of these two songs more than me. I'd bet my house on that.
And MelOn, by far, was the biggest, most important chart in 2017. And it wasn't a "slight" lead either. Mamamoo literally set an all-time record for most unique listeners in the first 24 hours in MelOn history.
That definitively proved EVERYTHING I said to EVERY Blink who argued with me back then, many of whom scoffed at me when I said Mamamoo was still more popular IN KOREA at that time (and I also said BLACKPINK will eventually surpass everyone, but they're not there yet)
The fact Mamamoo debuted higher, garnered more attention initially, won more music shows, set a MelOn record and quite honestly overshadow BlackPink initially is all I need.
I don't care that As If It's Your Last had more longevity, because the fact BLACKPINK not only didn't debut higher than Mamamoo, but got blocked from #1 AND lost music shows to them absolutely humbled all the people who used to regularly shit on Mamamoo.
It also proves that they were NOT the top girl group at the time. Mamamoo would not have been able to outchart Twice back then, for instance.
2016. 2016. That's what I said and argue. You know what, just for you and ISaidISaid, I'll drop my old post.
in that specific post you were talking about 2016 but i have seen you try to say bp were losing to those other groups digitally in 2017 also. but even in 2016 they weren't "WAY below" those groups digitally either. pwf is arguably as big as rough and decalcomanie. whistle and pwf beat ytb and navillera.
It was a slight lead because that record breaking ULs only lead to a 7k lead over aiiyl in the gaon chart with aggregates all digital platforms.
okay sorry the big bad ifans underestimated your mmm but you don't have to be equally annoying boasting about how "mmm crushed bp" over a slight lead on one platform for a brief period of time.

What?
Are you seriously trying to argue that YouTube views had more value than digitals, album sales and touring? There is a reason those metrics continue to stand the test of time, while nobody gives a damn about YT view counts anymore, and in 2016, Twice crushed BlackPink in that area. And not just them either.
GFriend did. MAMAMOO did as well.
BlackPink had WAY more YT views than Mamamoo in 2017, so why did Mamamoo debut higher on the charts when both groups dropped their new mini albums on the same hour? Why did Mamamoo take #1 while setting a new record for unique listeners in the first 24 hours?
And that's 2017.
You're in here arguing BlackPink was the top group at DEBUT. Which I'm convinced someone is paying you akorns under the table to argue that just to troll, cause ain't no WAY anyone would believe that.
They had zero album sales. They weren't touring yet obviously. And their digitals were WAY below not just Twice, but GFriend and Mamamoo as well.
Do you have ANYTHING that objectively illustrates how BlackPink was a more popular group than Twice in Korea in 2016?
Lmao. Stop it.
hate arguing about charts and numbers but you keep bringing this 2017 bp vs mmm comparison up. in 2017 bp digitals were not "WAY below" gfriend and mamamoo. weren't below at all really. on release YIA had a slight lead over aiiyl in melon only. while aiiyl topped the other charts. their gaon digital points were practically even for the first five weeks after which aiiyl took the lead on melon, total digitals and everything. aiiyl was easily the bigger hit that year. mamamoo only wins if you make the comparison about the first week results but even then the difference is minimal (188k vs 181k). not really "crushing" as you like to say. but also its a little too convenient to make a comparison be only about very initial results when mmm just loses almost immediately afterwards. bit corny. i don't see you completely disregard longevity when comparing other hit songs. by week 10 aiiyl was crushing yia with an over 100k lead in digital points.
bp werent losing to gfriend in 2017 either. fingertip and love whisper were very flop, don't need to bring up numbers for that. pwf had better longevity than even rough, not sure that id say pwf did better overall but still. gfriend's 2017 results were so bad you could only say gfriend was stronger digitally if you were very optimistic that they could somehow regain the popularity they had with mgt/rough.

wouldnt the twice members with no solos be mad?

so what are the chances for next weeks h100? most of the beyonce songs fell below magnetic in the US spotify chart. on day 4 of this new tracking week magnetic has 230k more US spotify streams total compared to the first 4 days of last tracking week

its meant to mean secretly paying for radio spins but kpoppies like the word so much they use it for anything in the music industry they consider cheating
-
for the past few days magnetic was only taking #1 on melon late at night but it seems like its finally able to maintain it the whole day. the gap in ULs is also closing

The success formula is "have a lot of money".
When people hear a piece of music enough times, they often start to like it regardless of their initial impression. This trick has been used by the industry for a very long time on radio and tv, and now on social media and streaming sites too.
The real question is: why is HYBE doing this with their ggs but not their bgs
Jyp doesn't have a lot of money?

To be fair they did also get more first week sales so it wasn't just the song. I would say NJ debut was bigger still especially in Korea. But illit numbers are looking promising in Japan so they could close the gap that way. Magnetic is getting significantly more Japanese Spotify streams than even the latest NJ title track was getting upon release. Japan is a way bigger music market than Korea so its a big deal

ILLIT is doing numbers in Japan… is it because of their Japanese members or ??
i was in japan last week and they were mentioned on the morning news. they mentioned they were in the same company as bts, nj, lsf. they mentioned the japanese members. i didnt understand the rest, my japanese is not good lol. they have an upcoming japanese variety show appearance on the 14th. i guess they are getting promoted decently there

So, let me get this straight. MANY people can talk shit about other groups from small agencies, can call them nugus and irrelevant, but HYBE and YG stans can't handle a little and fair criticism and won't create threads about that and try to stop the hate against them? This screams hypocrisy, I'm sorry.
I know there are a lot of people who hate them, but stop with the generalization. Not everyone who has a different opinion is a hater.
People call me a hater, because I didn't like ILLIT's song, or when I criticized their encore performance.
1st: I don't have to love their songs, it's for children, period!
2nd: criticizing their performance is not hate, just a normal thing. They're Idols for God's sake. They are trained to do a good job, or at least average. Even their own fans said 2 of the members shouldn't be part of the group, so my criticism was valid. That was the first and last time I mentioned them.
When they first debuted with Dream, I had positive feelings, because we heard they can sing. In my opinion, Aheyeon isn't even their best vocalist, it's Rami. She proved it, even in that trash SHEESH track. Then, YG released another lame song with Batter Up and I lost my interest. After Stuck in the Middle, I literally was in the middle, but SHEESH shushed all my hope in YG. I follow YG groups since the beginning, that's why I'm always critical with them.
I said this MANY times, I don't hate any group, I criticize their talent, their commitments, or performances. Everyone does that, especially on AKP, but with smaller groups is nothing special, because their fans don't cry like mainstream fandoms. My problem 98% of the time are the COMPANIES! Someone already made a thread about the BIG4 agencies being lazy as hell, and it is 100% true. They're lazy, because their fans don't want anything new or better, they will follow them everywhere. This is what I call a toxic relationship.😅
Like it or not, HYBE, YG, JYP and even SM is payola. All of them pay for ads, and not only on Youtube, and they do many other things as well. Not only girl groups, boy groups too.
Mixing real hate with fair criticism is probably worse than the toxic people online.
I will leave this video here from a Vocal Coach. Learn some new things.

Not the same as the relentless bashing some of the bigger groups get where specific idols get attacked, every performance mistake gets mocked and turned into a clip and re-posted, etc. Nugus have it tough in many ways but they don't get a concerning amount of hate.

Projected to debut around #99. Without the Beyonce songs could've been like #70.
