I think that it's because SM used to be the trendsetter in kpop for a long time, or if not the trendsetter, at least the one popularizing stuff. They weren't (and still aren't) afraid to experiment.

Like some users already pointed out: HYBE is still "new" to gg's (after GLAM), so let's see how/if the industry will change.

Not everyone likes Le Sserafim's music, but they might like New Jeans' songs better.

They target different audiences (for the most part, I find ILLIT's song to sound similar to New Jeans, but maybe that'll change in the future).

Maybe it might bite them in the butt in the future, but for now, it is a good strategy if the company has the time and money to do this. Having different subsidiaries helps with that.

I still don't really know what it is true in this scandal and what is not as I don't know the details about it.

BUT there's one thing for sure: WayV dragged with him because of the scandal. WayV had to go into hiatus for months, a subunit didn't get to see the light because of it. All of this when they were doing well.

I don't really know the reason why SM kept him (probably something to do with contracts), but it's clear that SM did full on damage control with the public with his documentary.

But like you said, I doubt that the other NCT members will get the same energy from the company.

The apartment was quite cheap considering it's on the countryside but still quite close to the bigger cities and shops. It was also in very good shape so I just repainted the walls and moved in, which helps with the costs.
